DK Carpentry 26 – Devon Eyes 24

DK Carpentry went into the this Division 2 match having lost the previous 4 games.   Devon Eyes came out blazing and being strong in attack found themselves 9-2 up at the end of the first quarter.   However DK Carpentry made some changes going into the second quarter which meant Sue Mullard moved from GA to GK, Michelle Edwards GD to GA and Zoe Lightfoot from GK to GD which seemed to strengthen both attack and defensive play. The strong central play between Becky Head(C) and Chloe Harvey(WA) fed into Helen Musgrave(GS) and Michelle Edwards(GA)for some pinpoint shooting to claw back some goals in the second and third quarters.

Devon Eyes continued to push DK Carpentry but by the end of the third quarter they were still ahead by 3 goals. DK team spirits were high going into the final quarter which saw Devon Eyes make some team changes due to an injury. Despite this Devon Eyes continued to move the ball around effectively.  However a final quarter team effort and great determination saw DK Carpentry
 take the lead to win by 26 goals to 24.  Both Centres were deservedly nominated players and DK Carpentry picked up a valuable extra point.
